The Dress

This wedding dress - 'Simone' from the Wendy Makin French Collection was incredibly comfortable to wear for my wedding in May, 2023. I never felt too cold or too hot in it and best of all, I could wear a normal bra (with straps) and even normal underwear! Because of the alterations made to the original design - which changed the dress from being more of an Empire Line rather than an A Line - the dress is very generous around the hips and stomach area making sitting, dancing and everything in between very easy.

To give context to the photos - I am 5’2 and my heels were quite tall at 9.5cm, and even though the dress is a size 12, my hip measurements are definitely more a 14-16. The hem was not full floor length, with the hem sitting about 2cms off the ground, which means there are no marks/rips around the hem of the dress as it was never dragging along the ground (and the wedding ceremony and reception were both indoors). The dress is honestly in near perfect condition after being professionally dry cleaned.

The colour of the dress is (technically) Ivory but it definitely leans more white. It has a full lace overlay and white lining. The neckline is a cross over V neckline with the back of the dress a V back, with a full zipper (and Hook & eye at the top), but the zipper is lined by pearl buttons. There is also an inbuilt bustle at the back. The dress has sheer lace sleeves to the elbow that can be shortened if needed.

The dress also has a short train as well that could be hemmed (removed) if desired.

Alterations

From the original design, the waist line has been lifted up to sit more under the bust, and therefore the dress takes has more of an empire line in the way that it sits, as opposed to an A Line.
